wednesday

We'll just call this the epic rain paddle day. We spent probably a little over 3 hours facing the wind & buckets of water falling from the sky this morning as we got out, then finally stopped to play in the long-awaited waterfall. That was the coolest thing. Not at the bottom of the fall did we play, no-in the very middle. We took many pictures and enjoyed our time there very much. At that point, I think we all kind of felt like we would never warm up again but sure enough Uncle Jim brought out the Lipton Soup & stove, perfectly ready for lunch at the fall. All was well again. That is, until we hit the next two portages- both over a half mile. Yikes! We made it through though, and it has been well worth it knowing that we have but a very short, smooth ride in tomorrow morning when we load up to go meet the boats. We had the most delicious spaghetti I've tasted in a while and to top that off, a wonderful no-bake Oreo cheesecake. (We spelled "JIM" with the Oreos and gave it to him for the first bite as a surprise.) We finished that off and then sat overlooking the water/sunset on a high rock formation, listening to Jim tell us stories about past trips. We were all indescribably happy. It has been quite the adventure.
