Three and a half hours in Wal-Mart..

resulted in one of my favorite service projects I've ever done. Last Saturday the youth from our ward took a little visit to Rockwood, Tennessee to participate in a thing called Operation REACH. Created for young children, this organization along with local businesses raise money for underprivileged kids around the area. Teachers recommend children who might not be having a very good Christmas this year, and each kid gets $225 to spend at Wal-Mart. They shop for each one of their family members, picking out what they think they would want. And then they get to choose a few things for themselves.

So where do we come in? Well, none of these kids could possibly push their own cart, check out, or wrap the gifts by themselves of course. So we decided to get up at 5:30 AM to go wait in line in Wal-Mart for the privilege of getting our own child to help shop for. This was mine-
After Wal-Mart we met the kids at a local high school for lunch and wrapping. It was such a good experience.
